As part of FOPA ‘s continued efforts to keep our public gardens looking good for the whole community. Three 12ft oaks were purchased from the donations of our members, delivered last week and have been planted by Matt the gardener.

South & South East in Bloom – Its Your Neighbourhood 2018 The Friends of Palmeira and Adelaide
This year Palmeira & Adelaide moved up a grade to ‘Advancing’. We are very please with this result and look to continue the success for 2019.

Wild flower conservation society – Brighton and beyond – Open Day
The open day is to celebrate the start of a new initiative involving Brighton & Hove city council rangers and volunteers to propagate and manage wild flower planting schemes across the city and beyond..
Snailspace is the much-anticipated follow up to the hugely successful Snowdogs by the Sea, which raised £310,000 for Martlets and contributed in excess of £10m to the local economy. They are looking for friendly volunteers for Snailspace.
Ruth was a part of our community here for many years and helped many people. She was the Chairperson of FOPA for two years, from 2008 to 2010. She continued her support of the community and regularly attended FOPA events and was well known and liked by all neighbours and friends.
Brunswick in Bloom will be having a quiz night to raise funds for Brunswick in Bloom- this covers all parts of the ward. . £5 entry. All welcome!

FOPA has continued to engage with the Cityclean team in order to provide as much detail to residents as possible. After many years of discussion and further to the consultation and your feedback with FOPA and Cityclean, the final locations for the new bins for refuse and recycling in Adelaide Crescent and Palmeira Square have now been chosen. The map above shows where the bins will go.
Ernest Beal was Brighton’s only true born son of the Town to have been given the Victoria Cross, although be it posthumously, Her Majesty’s Government are supplying a commemorative paving stone to be laid at the War Memorial and after that the City is also unveiling a plaque to him at his birth place.
