Composting closure

Following lengthy consultations about endemic problems at our composting facility it was, in the end, closed.

Key problems were lack of volunteer support, unsuitability of the appliances provided and vermin infestation.

Jo Glazebrook from the Food Project did her best to help but in the end the site was cleared, our community disbanded and we were left without the satisfaction of recycling kitchen waste in our community. The Food Project website offers alternative locations where enthusiasts might find a warm reception.

As for community building there is always FOPA’s website, but it is not quite the same as making and meeting friends by the village pump.

Balint.

[note from FOPA committee: We would like to thank all involved, particularly Balint for his unwavering efforts and infectious enthusiasm]
