FOPA Streetscape Summary Report – October to December 2017

Rory Connelly the FOPA streetscape committee member has been working hard to ensure that our Palmeira & Adelaide streetscape is enhanced and improved. Below is a summary of some of the key areas they have covered in the last quarter.

  1. Palmeira Square Gardens Streetlight number A1 west side of rose gardens reported to Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC) on 29 December & repaired by contractor Colas following day
  2. Two abandoned bicycles chained to stands in our area reported online and removed by BHCC promptly after 21 day notification period.
  3. A brown tent in the middle of Adelaide Crescent gardens was set & temporarily occupied, but remained for about 4 weeks. Reported to BHCC whose gardens dept. found to be subsequently abandoned & then removed with all associated rubbish before Xmas

4. Weekly Friday voluntary ‘litter pick’ continues around Adelaide Gardens & Palmeira Sq with a great deal more ‘blown away’ recycling black box litter than usual (mainly due to amended Cityclean recycling dates over the Xmas period having had such little publicity). Hopefully this will diminish as we should be back to our normal Friday recycling collection date pending installation of the long awaited communal bins.
