Concerns over donated trees

FOPA have consistently voiced concerns over the suitability and maintenance of trees donated to the gardens by residents. The council  supply, plant and maintain them for a one-off charge of around £100 – £150. Some trees however have been too spindly, too young or do not represent value for money. For a tree to survive in this exposed location it is essential for the Council to provide the right sapling. We are particularly concerned about the cutting down of two donated trees planted within the last three years without any notification to the donors. Ward Councillors have been asked to inspect and advise and we shall report again on this. If this affects you or you have any expertise please get in touch at info@fopa.co.uk
