Palmeira Mansions service roads

If ever there were a success story for an action group of residents then this is it. For years the unadopted service roads in front of the two terraces of Palmeira Mansions have deteriorated and become a car park for freeloaders and abandoned vehicles. Nobody was sure who owned these roads and the Council refused to adopt them as they did not conform to highway requirements. So the residents got together, searched out the ownership, bought the land and structures and paid for the first road to be rebuilt. The fine boundary wall along Church Road has also been restored and the light fittings will work again. Repairs to the service road to the west terrace are in the pipeline.
